Dental Cleanings and Polishing

Healthy teeth and gums are the cornerstone of a healthy mouth and a beautiful smile. While regular home maintenance is important, it only focuses on areas above the gum line. A professional cleaning can clean your teeth not only above the gum line, but below the gum line as well, removing plaque, tartar, and bacteria from hard to reach places. Restor Dental is pleased to offer dental cleanings and polishing, so you can achieve optimal oral health. We will ensure that your experience involves a custom plan that reflects your individual needs and requirements, coupled with elevated hospitality, where you feel welcomed and well taken care of.

Regular Dental Cleanings and Polishing Help Maintain Optimal Oral Health!

Restor Dental understands that each patient will require a different cleaning and polishing schedule based on their unique and individual needs. Most people require cleaning and polishing every 6 months, although some may benefit from coming in every 3-4 months, while others may be able to visit every 9-12 months. Our Restor Dental team will discuss with you how often you should visit us for a dental cleaning and polishing or checkup-up based on your specific and individual needs.

Guided Biofilm Therapy

Restor Dental uses Guided Biofilm Therapy, an innovative way to teeth cleaning! Its comfortable, effective and quick!

What is GBT?

Guided Biofilm Therapy® is the systematic, scientifically proven, predictable solution for dental biofilm management in professional prophylaxis using state of the art technologies. At Restor Dental, Guided Biofilm Therapy® consists of treatment protocols based on individual patient diagnosis and risk assessment in order to achieve optimal results. The treatment is given in the least invasive way, with the highest level of comfort, safety and efficiency.

Benefits of GBT include:

  • Highly effective at removing difficult stains from coffee, tea, wine and tobacco
  • Minimally invasive and gentler than a traditional cleaning

Dental cleanings using GBT are faster and therefore means spending less time in the dental chair

Why is GBT a “Game Changer”?

Dental biofilm is the main etiologic factor for caries, periodontal and peri-implant infections. Periodontitis can increase the risk of systemic diseases, such as cardiovascular and respiratory disease, arthritis or diabetes. Regular oral hygiene, combined with professional measures keeps biofilm under control for better oral and systemic health.

Fluoride

After your cleaning and polishing, you may be given the option of fluoride treatment. Fluoride treatment is a natural mineral that helps to strengthen the enamel in areas that are weak, and prevent cavities from forming. It slows and may even reverse the development of decay and cavities by harming the bacteria which causes the cavities. You should now not eat or drink for 30 minutes after the treatment in order to ensure that your teeth absorb the fluoride entirely.

Oral Cancer Screening

Restor Dental takes your health seriously. Early detection of oral cancer can greatly improve chances of successful treatment. That is why we will always do an oral cancer screening at every dental checkup. Your dentist will look inside your mouth to check for anything suspicious, feel the tissue inside your mouth to check for any lumps or abnormalities, and may also examine your throat and neck for lumps. If anything suspicious is found, you will be referred to an oncologist for further testing.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal Disease (gum disease) is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. While not curable, it is controllable with regular hygiene appointments. Gum disease can advance with very few signs – many patients do not even realize they suffer from it. Regular exams and cleanings, as well as good home-maintenance, are essential to detecting and managing periodontal disease. Once it has been diagnosed, it is important to get treatment before it worsens. A personalized treatment plan, based on the severity of the gum disease, will be implemented. Milder cases, with little or no bone loss, may be dealt with in one or two visits. If the inflammation has advanced and there is evidence of measurable bone loss, a proactive approach to prevent further deterioration is recommended. This will often include a deeper cleaning with manual and ultrasonic instruments.

Dental Sealants

Restor Dental is pleased to offer dental sealants. Dental sealants are a protective coating that is applied on the very deep grooves on back teeth, which are prime areas for decay to form. The sealant is a thin coating that is applied to the chewing surface in order to help prevent bacteria and other debris from collecting in the deep crevices. This in turn, helps prevent cavities from forming in the future. Applying Dental sealants is a quick, simple, and painless procedure.
